Many of the properties that we manage are condominiums in homeowners associations (known as Common Interest Developments in California law). The Davis-Stirling Common Interest Development Act is the law governing California CIDs. Anyone who owns property in or lives in a CID is welcome to join CID-List, an electronic mailing list for CID discussion. Other sources of information about CIDs include Regenesis.net, American Homeowners Resource Center, and Community Associations Institute.

Good landlords and tenants should be familiar with landlord/tenant law and tenants' rights. A good source of books on these and other legal subjects is Nolo Press whose books can be found at most local libraries. Another source of useful information is the California Department of Consumer Affairs web site.

Once in a while landlords and tenants have disputes which they cannot resolve themselves. We highly recommend the local mediation panels available in most peninsula cities as a source of assistance. We would be happy to help anyone who wants to get in touch with their local panel.
